The proposal for a belvedere is sited in a field adjacent to the Lime Tree Avenue that runs in axis with the main house. A new path connects the belvedere with Shatwell Valley, the woodland ridge, the replanted lime tree avenue and Hadspen House.

The belvedere, constructed from steel sections clad with oak boards was designed to enable a fair view over the estate and Somerset countryside. Equally important is how the belvedere itself becomes an object in the landscape.
